Sigmundslust

Erstwhile hunting castle of Archduke Sigismund dem Münzreichen (Sigmund the coin rich)

Erstwhile hunting castle of Archduke Sigismund dem Münzreichen. It was built from 1472 to 1473, and since that time it is the emblem of the whole area. This romantic hunting seat recalls the ancient hunting tradition in Vomp. The first Tyrolese printer was founded from 1520 to1526 and the first catholic hymnbook was printed in German. The frequent change in ownership (mostly curators, judges and guilds of Schwaz) and the fire in 1809 left their marks on the entire building. In 1898 Baron Rüdiger von Biegeleben bought the castle, while in 1997 it was bought again by Family Pöll. Between 2000 and 2001 the facade and the inner courtyard were renovated.
You can only visit the castle from the outside!
