Wildness of Wolfsklamm (Wolf’s Gorge)

The Wolfsklamm (Wolf’s Gorge) in Stans has been inaugurated more than 100 years ago.

And during all these years it has not lost its charm. Hundred thousand visitors have already discovered this piece of untouched nature. But the wild stream Stallenbach will be found by many other "explorers”. It is a unique natural show: the water creates a white steam in the air and emerald-green lights in the profundities. The bridges stretch along the sharp cliffs, reaching up the 898 m high mountain Georgenberg. The bridges crossing the wild streams and the wooden footbridges are hand made.

The gorge is one of the most impressive natural monument of the Alps. Starting from the centre of Stans you can walk through this “mighty canyon“ and reach the top of the mountain Georgenberg. Here begins the Alpine Park Karwendel.

In order to get to St. Georgenberg cliff convent - one of the most famous pilgrimage destinations in Tyrol - you need to walk for about one hour. Free parking areas in the town centre, at the gorge entrance not free of charge (private property). Open form April until November
