Rablhaus Museum - Weerberg

Schatzsuche Nowadays this simple block house from the 16th century is the seat of a little, important museum of local history. The exhibition represents in an extraordinary way the domestic culture and working customs of our forefathers.

Here you can see the agricultural instruments of Weerberg farmers, such as a wind mill to clean corn from the 17th century, a threshing machine, ploughs, some brakes and different old tools. The black kitchen was the workspace of peasant women and of maidservants. It still conserves many kitchen tools. Another show-piece is the canopy bed in the bedroom (loan of Volkskunstmuseums/Folk Art Museum) from the 18th century. A completely furnished room on the first floor and a room with sacral objects date back to the 18th century too.

In 1997 the Museum was renowned by the cultural committee as best museum and centre of preservation of ancient monuments. The Rablhaus Museum was awarded “because it originates from the initiative of an idealist. A little classic Museum of local history. Its meaning doesn’t consist in the mere conservation of precious building architectures and in the selection of exhibition objects. It goes beyond this concrete meaning and plays the extraordinary role of a communication centre for the local rural population.“ Another rarity of the museum: you can buy original farmers’ products. Furthermore, the first Sunday of every month cosy traditional music is played in the Bauernstube (farmers’ room).

Opening times from May until October
Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 15.00 to 19.00
