Silver Region Karwendel has got the two most popular Tyrolese mountain chalets

The readers of daily Tyrolese newspaper have chosen the "Kellerjochhütte" and the "Weidener Hütte" as the two best chalets in Tyrol. The Kellerjochhütte is situated above Schwaz and offers you a wide panoramic view of the surrounding Karwendel mountains, the Zill Valley and the “Wilden Kaiser” mountain. The Weidener Hütte is embedded in the heart of Tux Prealps above Weerberg. Around this chalet there are still many traditional alpine restaurants.

The daily Tyrolese newspaper searched together with its readers the most beautiful mountain chalets in Tyrol.

The winners were the Kellerjochhütte and the Weidener Hütte. The managing director Markus Schmidt says: "I’m glad to know that this great prize goes to two chalets of Silver Region Karwendel. I’d like to thank the inn keepers for their big commitment."


Since this year Veronika Felderer is the new tenant of Kellerjochhüttea and for this reason this award has a special meaning for her. Its ideal location, its fantastic cuisine, the cordiality of the land-lady and the chalet conditions are only a few of the qualities that have been particularly appreciated by visitors.

The Kellerjochhütte is situated at 2.237m on the sea level and just beneath the Kellerjoch crest chapel. You can reach it along an impressive panoramic road form Schwaz and Pill. To go uphill you can also use the Kellerjochbahn (3th section). Excursion to Kellerjochhütte are ideal for the whole family.


The Weidener Hütte is situated in Weerberg, Silver Region Karwendel. The landlord and the landlady Silvia and Hubert Lechner have dedicated themselves to this chalet with body and soul. When Hubert begins telling his exhilarating anecdotes everybody can do nothing but listen to him. The reason of this popularity lays in the cordial, friendly manners of landlord and landlady, the quality of the cuisine, the peculiar child-friendly atmosphere (Silvia and Hubert have little pets to watch and many games available especially for their youngest visitors) and the extraordinary experiences that are waiting for you.

You can reach the Weidener Hütte via the district of Innerst am Weerberg. After about 7 km you’ll reach this 1799 m high chalet. A mountain bike route will take you directly to the so called "Weidener" (it is a part of the Transalp-leg towards Italy). The hikers that need some relax can count on treatments facilities according to Kneipp and an infrared-cabin. In Winter the longest toboggan run of Tyrol is waiting for you just around the corner!
