Alpine Park Karwendel
The Alpine Park Karwendel is a reserve with many distinctive features. It spreads between the rivers Inn and Isar, between the lake Achensee and the Seefeld plateau.
The Alpine Park Karwendel offers you a beautiful landscape which is internationally renowned. The advantage is: it is in Tyrol!
Something special just around the corner! The Karwendel is characterised by a primordial alpine landscape which is unique in Europe, e.g. the Big and the Little Maple Plain (Ahornboden), the Tortal Valley with its huge rock walls in the Alpine Park Karwendel and also a “Grand Canyon“, the so called “Vomperloch“ (Vomp Hole)!
Extension:
The Tyrolese part of Karwendel has an extension of 730 km². In Bavaria the bordering nature reserve “Karwendel and Karwendel Promontory“ counts on a surface of 190 km². In total the Alpine Park Karwendel and the reserve have an extension of approx. 920 km².
The Alpine Park Karwendel is:
• one of the biggest reserves of the East Alps with its approx. 920 km²
• the biggest nature reserve of Austria
• the biggest reserve in Tyrol (730 km²)
