Parish Church "Zu unserer lieben Frau" (To our beloved Mother Mary)

The parish church in Schwaz dedicated to the ascension of Holy Virgin Mary is the biggest gothic hall church in Tyrol with four naves.

2 equivalent main naves were built during the period of prosperity of the Schwaz silver mine, about 500 years ago. One of them was for the citizens, the other one for the miners. The architectonical masterpiece of Erasmus Grasser and Konrad Vogel was sanctified in 1502. The parish church contains many sacral artworks. The ceiling of the church is extremely impressive, it is 5 floors high and is covered with 15,000 copper shingles.
