Stans
STANS – Nature and culture can both be found in abundance here, giving the village its unique charm.
The sunny village of Stans (560m) is located at the foot of the Karwendel mountains and is home to 1,900 inhabitants.
Romantic craggy mountains, crashing waterfalls, emerald-green waters and magnificent panoramic views in the healthy mountain air offer an unforgettable experience to visitors to the Wolfsklamm gorge, which begins right at the centre of the village.
The St. Georgenberg monastery can be reached by walking through the gorge and was built in 950 as a hermitage. It is the oldest pilgrimage site in the country.
Tratzberg castle, a real treasure among the castles of Austria, offers visitors a fascinating audio guide tour (a fairytale version is available for children), presenting an interesting history of the site.
With the kids’ adventure programme at the Familiennest Stans (family nest), boredom among our younger guests is taboo!
